University Archives & Special Collections constitutes the official “memory” of the University and represents the accumulated experience of an educational community that has contributed greatly to the history and development of the province. University Archives & Special Collections supports research: by acquiring, preserving, and making accessible records, in any medium, the permanently valuable records of the University, and books, journals, manuscripts, archival.

The Rare Books Collection at the University of Saskatchewan Library's University Archives & Special Collections comprises almost 4, volumes ranging from medieval manuscripts, to early printed Bibles, to first editions of such literary greats as Dickens, Twain, and Sir Walter Scott, among others.

The collections mandate for University Archives and Special Collections focuses on the acquisition, preservation and accessibility of permanently valuable records of the University of Saskatchewan. These collections include books, journals, manuscripts, archival collections and printed ephemera of a rare, valuable or regional nature.
